SAFTA awards cancelled due to coronavirus

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has announced that the annual SAFTA awards has been cancelled until further notice.

In a statement released by the NFVF it said in light of  the announcement made by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Government’s strict actions in response to the COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”) outbreak, the awards ceremony will no longer be taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre on 27 – 28 March 2020.

An announcement will be made in due course.

The South African Film & Television Awards (SAFTAs) were established by industry representatives and the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF), as an event that honours, celebrates and promotes the creativity, quality and excellence of the South African film & television talent.
