SAFA Capricorn head raises suspicions in office break-in motives

Reading Time: 2 minutes

President of the South African Football Association (SAFA) in the Capricorn region in Limpopo, Abel Rakoma, says he believes that police investigations will establish whether a burglary in the football association’s offices was an element of crime or leadership squabbles.

Several items including computers, soccer balls and soccer kits, were stolen in a burglary at the offices of SAFA Capricorn region in Polokwane on Monday.

In March, the High Court in Polokwane reinstated Rakoma and his executive committee to the leadership of the football association in the region.

In the video below, Abel Rakoma says that he and his executive committee were removed unconstitutionally from SAFA:

Rakoma says he hopes police will resolve the mystery surrounding the break-in.

“All the doors were actually opened … literally opened. The items were all over the show, all over the offices. You could see that the takkies were taken, the balls were taken. I also know that there is a fridge in this particular office which is not there anymore. A number of items were actually stolen and it is, of course, a concern. This is actually serious burglary that took place at the offices. I can’t completely rule out, but is a matter that actually be left to the police further investigations.”
