The annual meeting of health ministers and senior health officials from the SADC group of nations plans to tackle major diseases affecting member states.

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi is chairing the meeting attended by delegates from most of the participating nations.

This year’s general meeting is taking place in Polokwane in Limpopo.

Motsoaledi says although the meeting will focus on malaria prevention, it also plans to address other diseases and health issues in the region.

“We start the annual general meeting where we take a decision about a number of things starting from non-communicable diseases to TB to HIV/AIDS to drugs and medicine regulation,” says Motsoaledi.
