The South African Communist Party (SACP) has not ruled out the possibility of contesting the 2024 elections. General Secretary of the SACP, Solly Mapaila, told SABC News that the process of exploring electoral options required consultation with alliance partners.
Such consultation would deliberate comprehensively on the concept of the state and state power, the relationship between the party and the state as well as considering the electoral options which are available to them.
The First Plenary of the SACP 15th National Congress commenced today, Friday 26 August 2022.

“We must engage our allies so that such a process will be kicked off. To engage with the ANC and Cosatu, we have not started that,” says Mapaila.
