SACP leadership facing attacks at their homes

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The South African Communist Party (SACP) says its leadership is under attack. This after the leadership’s homes were robbed in recent days. It is alleged that these attacks could be politically motivated.

It says attackers when getting into the leadership’s houses they demand electronics items like laptops, computers, memory sticks and other communication devices.

SACP spokesperson Dr Alex Mashilo explains, “These people will get into our houses with guns while we are sitting and relaxed. Some will stand by the gates, some wait in the drive-by in cars so that we do not see them. When they get into the house they demand electronic items like computers, external hard-drives, clothes and take everything. There are about four to five SACP leadership homes that have been attacked as we speak.”

The attacked SACP leadership include General Secretary Dr Blade Nzimande’s house in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, First Deputy Secretary-General Solly Mapaile’s house in Johannesburg, National Treasurer Joyce Moloi-Moropa’s house in Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, SACP spokesperson Dr Alex Mashilo’s house in Johannesburg and National Organiser Moshopa Nxumalo’s house.
