Kaizer Kganyago says SABC will forever be grateful for the work Robbie Malinga has done.

The SABC has described Afro-pop legend Robbie Malinga as a talented musician whose contribution to the music industry in South Africa will forever be treasured.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago joined hundreds of mourners at the funeral service for the Afro Pop legend, currently underway at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg, north of Johannesburg.

The singer, songwriter and producer died on Christmas Day following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kganyago says public broadcaster will forever be grateful for the work Malinga has done.

“The SABC has got a simple mandate to educate, inform and entertain and the part that we need to emphasize on is the part of entertaining the people and that is where Robbie came in. He has shown to us that he is the best in everything that he touches and for us we’ll be forever grateful that we crossed paths with a person of his calibre. On behalf of the Board management of the SABC we’d like to send our sincere condolences to the family,” says Kganyago.
