Reading Time: < 1 minute

The SABC says it has reached an agreement with the Communication Workers Union (CWU)  over wage negotiations for  2017/18.

This means CWU has joined the other union Bemawu in accepting the SABC’s wage offer of 4.8% back-dated to July this year.

SABC Acting Group Chief Executive Officer Nomsa Philiso says they are happy that this matter has been finalised and both unions have called off their strike action.

She says all stakeholders had to work together to ensure that the SABC’s mandate is not hampered by internal issues.

Philiso also thanked the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) for mediating the dispute which finally led to parties reaching an agreement.
