The SABC has paid tribute to its legal head, Sizwe Vilakazi, who was gunned down over the weekend.

Police are searching for three suspects in connection with the shooting at Vilakazi’s bottle store in Tsakane, Ekurhuleni.

Deputy Chairperson of the SABC Board, Febe Potgieter-Gqubule, says Vilakazi helped steer the broadcaster during a turbulent time.

“It’s indeed testimony to his tireless work that within days after his brutal slaying the SABC won two cases stewarded by Sizwe, which adds to the message that the days of impunity are over and that the broadcaster will ensure accountability. He knew that the SABC has and continues to make progress as it begins to turn the tide. This progress ranges from the two cases we won to stop the rot, introducing proper governance as well as the turnaround in the finances.”
