SABC News reporter scoops top honours at North West Media Awards

SABC Senior News Reporter Patrick Dintwa is seen working on his laptop preparing for the local government elections in 2019 in this picture taken on 08 May 2019.

SABC Senior News Reporter Patrick Dintwa has scooped the Best Journalist of the Year Award at the 2021 North West Media Awards.

The presentation ceremony took place in Rustenburg on Friday evening.

The awards were previously held in 2011 and 2012.

Dintwa says he feels honoured to have won in the category.

“I’m very excited, very humbled. I’m over the moon. This is a signal that there are people out there that are recognizing our contribution. It’s also a signal of confidence in what we’re doing; reporting what is happening on the ground. So I am very, very much happy. I’m very excited and thank you very much,” says Dintwa.

Dintwa has encouraged young people to be passionate and follow their dreams.

“In whatever you’re doing, have passion. These are the results of passion, dedication. Please don’t be discouraged. but whatever circumstances that you are encountering have passion. passion is the name of the game,” he adds.
