Kimberly based SABC reporter Reginald Witbooi has walked away as the winner of the Consumer Choice category at the Responsible Drinking Media Awards held in Johannesburg on Thursday.
The awards are allocated following a vote by the public.
The Responsible Drinking Awards recognises journalists who tell stories about responsible drinking, binge drinking and steering society in the right direction regarding safe and responsible behaviour.
Witbooi has thanked the public for voting for him.
“It’s electrifying to be receiving this award tonight (Thursday evening) but also I want to thank the public for instilling that confidence in me. It boosts my confidence in telling more stories like these. I believe as a journalist, we all have voices. It’s time that we need to amplify those voices.”
