The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC has embarked on a national Education Career expo in Mbombela, Mpumalanga exposing learners from various schools to the different career paths.

Different institutions of higher learning and other stakeholders are providing information sharing programmes to the learners.

Hundreds of school learners are exposed to different career paths they could venture into at the different institutions of higher learning when completing their matric.

The learners are mostly from rural and farm areas. They believe this expo is an eye opener to their future.

“The South African Broadcasting Co-operation says they want to close the gap on information sharing of different career paths. The broadcaster stated that it took the initiative to run with the programme to assist the learners because they are the future of the country.”

“Most of our kids the career path they would like to choose is just like basic career that we are used to, like being a teacher, being lawyer, being a DJ, or a doctor; they don’t know what else is available there. So SABC decided we will try assist; most schools do not offer information anymore and just try to enlighten the nation because they are the future of the country,” says SABC Brand manager, Neo Nthite.

The SABC says the career expo will be rolled out to other provinces.
