The SABC Board says it has received the resignation of Deputy Chairperson Febe Potgieter-Gqubule after the ANC confirmed that she had been appointed as the party’s elections general manager.

The public broadcaster says in a statement that Potgieter-Gqubule had indicated she would quit if she was appointed in any capacity which could cause a conflict of interest.

The SABC says it has accepted her resignation and thanks her for her contribution as member of the interim board as well as deputy chair of the new board. The SABC board now has three vacancies and the public broadcaster says it will be communicating with the relevant authorities to urgently have the vacancies filled.
