South Africa’s Women cricketers further enforced their dominance over Bangladesh with another crushing victory at the Kimberley Diamond Oval in the Northern Cape.
The Momentum Protea’s cruised to a whopping one hundred and fifty-four run victory over the visitors after winning the toss and choosing to bat in the fourth of their five match series against.
It was a slow but solid start for the Proteas who struggled away to 120 for 2 at the 31 over mark.
There was a bit of a wobble when two more wickets fell cheaply and the girls found themselves at 139 for 4 just before the 36th over.
The mini collapse brought in captain for the day, Chloe Tryon who got the scoreboard ticking over again.
Tryon’s innings of 60 off 42 balls saw her earn the player of the game award.
Most importantly she guided her team to 230 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs.
The Bangladeshi chase got off to the worst possible start by the 25th over; the visitors were staring down the barrel of a huge loss having lost six wickets for just 66 runs.
As wickets continued to fall at regular intervals it was no surprise that the visitors were once again bowled out for less than 100 ,they were all out for a mere 76 runs.
Bangladesh coach Dave Capel says: “In the batting department we’ve not performed at all in any of the games so you keep getting knocked over for 70 or 80 runs in a game. Then you’re not going to compete.”
Interim Proteas coach Saliegh Nackerdien says: “We stick to our basics and never get ahead of ourselves play it game but game and really back their skills. I think it’s important that we never get complacent with regards to a team like Bangladesh.”
The Protea Women will be looking to complete a white wash victory over the visitors.
They play the fifth and final ODI game of the series in Bloemfontein next Monday.
