The South African Weather Service has issued an alert of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms in various areas on the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal Monday afternoon. The alert also indicates that the heavy rains will be accompanied by localised flooding.
Weather forecaster Ayanda Nsele says other parts of the province will continue to enjoy a warm weather.
“Today we are sitting at partly cloudy throughout the day quite warm but cooler on the western part we are expecting 80% of showers and thundershowers over the western part of the province otherwise and for today we also have the alert for the disruptive rains this afternoon on the northern part we are expecting the heavy rains to be accompanied by localised flooding.”
Last week a severe thunderstorm coupled with heavy rain, strong winds and hail struck Pietermaritzburg, Ndwendwe, Maphumulo and Mandeni.
