South Africa’s Eric van Rooyen is the joint leader in the clubhouse in the second round of the Scottish Open golf tournament at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

The tall South African carded a second successive seven-under-par 64 for a total of 128-14-under-par and just like in the first round, he had eight birdies and just the one bogey.

Van Rooyen, who is still seeking his first win on the European Tour, shares the lead with England’s Lee Slattery and Bernd Wiesberger of Austria.

Slattery also carded a second successive 64, while Wiesberger finished with five birdies on the trot for a 10-under-par 61. He made 11 birdies in total and also had one bogey. The trio have a two stroke lead over Nino Bertasio of Italy.
