SA swimming squad clinches 11 medals

Team South Africa should pick up more medals in the pool at the African Games in Morocco on Thursday.

The swimming squad added 11 medals on Wednesday night.

Both the men and women won the four-by-100 freestyle relays.

The other gold medals went to Martin Binedell in the 200 backstroke, Mike Houlie and in the 50 breaststroke and Erin Gallagher in the 100 freestyle.

There were silver medals for Christin Mundell, Samantha Randle and Carla Antonopolous, as well as bronze medal for Emma Chelius and Sam Randle.

Earlier, Tiffany Keep had won the team’s first gold medal, by winning the mountain bike race.

Egypt top the medal board with Algeria second at the moment. But South Africa’s strong events are just getting underway.
