South Africa has recorded 9 544 new COVID-19 infections, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 787 203.
The total recoveries now stand at 2 560 605.
As per the National Department of Health statement, a further 235 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of fatalities 82 496 to date.

Vaccine Update
More than six million adults in South Africa have now been fully vaccinated. Health journalist Mia Malan says this amounts to over 15% of the adult population.
More than half of those fully vaccinated have received the two-dose Pfizer vaccine.
The Health Ministry says more than 253 000 people were given a vaccine in the last 24 hour reporting period – with the overall number of vaccines administered now approaching 13 million.
