South Africa has recorded 772 new coronavirus cases. This brings the total number of cases to 651 521.
The country has also recorded 142 new COVID-19 related fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 15 641.
In a statement, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says most of the new deaths were recorded in Limpopo.
“Regrettably, we report 142 more COVID-19 related deaths: “Sixteen from KwaZulu-Natal, 12 from Gauteng, 4 from Eastern Cape, 13 from Western Cape, 11 from Northern Cape, 19 from Mpumalanga and 67 from Limpopo,” says Dr Mkhize.
The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 3 940 217.
The number of recoveries now stands at 583 126, this translates to a recovery rate of 89,5%.
