SA records 5 284 new COVID-19 cases

South Africa has recorded 5 284 new COVID-19 cases, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 3 941 045. The increase represents a 17.3% positivity rate.

According to the NICD, “Due to the ongoing audit exercise by the National Department of Health , there may be a backlog of COVID-19 mortality cases reported. Today, the Department reports 41 deaths, and of these, six occurred in the past 24-48 hours. This brings the total fatalities to 101 043 to date.”
