South Africa has recorded 4 932 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of cases to date to 805 804. The country has also recorded 160 new COVID-19 related fatalities on Friday.
In a statement, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says most of the new deaths were recorded in the Eastern Cape.
“69 deaths from Eastern Cape, 26 from the Free State, 6 from Gauteng, 10 from Kwa-Zulu Natal, 6 from Limpopo, 12 from Northern Cape and 31 from the Western Cape,” says Dr Mkhize. This brings the total number of deaths to 21 963.
Recoveries now stand at 740 450.
