SA records 16 302 new COVID-19 cases

South Africa has recorded 16 302 new COVID-19 infections taking the country close to 2.2 million cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.

The death toll from COVID-19-related illnesses now stands at 64 289, with 151 new fatalities recorded in the past 24-hours.

Gauteng has again recorded almost 50% of all new infections with 8 543 cases.

The Western Cape has recorded 1 945 cases in the past 24-hours, with KwaZulu-Natal reporting 1 520.
