South Africa’s COVID-19 infections have risen to 726 823 and the fatalities now stand at 19 411.
According to the national Health Department, there were 135 new deaths and 1 371 cases overnight.
The majority of the new fatalities are from Gauteng, followed by the Eastern Cape.

The health department says 655 330 South Africans have recovered from the virus.
It is urging South Africans to continue observing COVID-19 safety precautions to avoid a further spread of the virus.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize and his wife are currently in isolation after testing positive for the disease recently.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is also working from home under coronavirus quarantine after being in contact with a person who has contracted the virus.
