SA records 13 719 new COVID-19 cases, 450 fatalities

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says 13 719 new COVID-19 cases were identified in South Africa overnight, pushing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 2 356 049.

This increase represents a 26.1% positivity rate.

The total number of fatalities has climbed to 69 075 after 450 deaths were reported.

The number of tests conducted in both public and private sectors now stand at 14 477 689, while recoveries are at 2 133 196.

Gauteng remains the leader of the pack in relation to new cases, with 33% of those reported on Friday coming from the province. It is followed by the Western Cape (21%).
