SA records 12 418 new COVID-19 cases, 334 fatalities

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says 12 418 new COVID-19 cases were identified in South Africa overnight, pushing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 2 447 454.

This increase represents a 22.3% positivity rate.

The total number of fatalities has climbed to 72 013 after 334 deaths were reported.

The number of tests conducted in both public and private sectors now stand at 14 862 859, while recoveries are at 2 222 338.
