South Africa has recorded 10 139 new COVID-19 cases. Over 48 000 tests were conducted. 272 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 77 141 deaths.
The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 2 375 634 with a recovery rate of 91,2%
The test positivity rate remains above 20%, four times the level at which the spread of the virus is considered to be under control.

PROVINCIAL BREAKDOWN
The majority of new cases are from KwaZulu-Natal (28%), followed by Western Cape (26%). Eastern Cape accounted for 13%; Gauteng Province accounted for 12%; Free State accounted for 5%; Mpumalanga, North West, and Northern Cape each accounted for 4% respectively; and Limpopo Province accounted for 3% of Sunday’s new cases.
People are urged to continue wearing masks and practicing social distancing as well as hand washing.
Those eligible are also encouraged to get the vaccine -as this is the best way to ensure that you do not get very ill and even die from COVID 19.
