South Africa has recorded 1 767 new coronavirus cases. This brings the total number of cases to 674 339.
The country has also recorded 67 new COVID-19 related fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 16 734.
In a statement, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says most of the new deaths were recorded in KwaZulu-Natal.
“Regrettably, we report 67 more COVID-19 related deaths: “3 from the Eastern Cape, 37 from KwaZulu-Natal, 11 from Gauteng, 9 from the Western Cape and 7 from the Free State,” says Dr Mkhize.
The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 4 187 917.
The number of recoveries now stands at 608 112, this translates to a recovery rate of 90%.
