SA records 1 413 new coronavirus cases, 55 deaths

The country's recovery rate remains at 95%.

South Africa has recorded 1 413 new coronavirus infections in the last 24-hour cycle, taking the total number to 1 571 348.
The country has also recorded 55 new COVID-19 related fatalities. This brings the total number of deaths to 53 995.
“Eastern Cape 11, Free State 14, Gauteng 20, Kwa-Zulu Natal 3, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 1, North West 0, Northern Cape 0 and Western Cape 6,” says Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize, in a statement.
The country’s recovery rate remains at 95%.

Meanwhile, Western Cape authorities have warned that a third wave in the country is inevitable.

As South Africa gears up to resume its vaccination programme, the Western Cape government says

the public’s behaviour will determine the onset and severity of the wave.
