South African Federation of Trade Unions Secretary-General Zwelinzima Vavi says South Africa needs to unite in bidding farewell to the late struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
He arrived at her Soweto home on Friday afternoon to bid farewell to the struggle icon and is also expected to attend Friday’s vigil alongside other friends and family.
“She tasted the meaning of a solitary confinement. She knows how to be banished and that’s why she will always occupy a very special place in the hearts of the millions not only of South Africans but I guess of every freedom loving person. We will always have her name written somewhere in a very sacred place in their hearts in diamond.”
