South Africa has recorded 304 COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 9 604.
The accumulative number of people who have tested positive for the virus now stands at 538 184 after the Health Department reported a further 8 307 new cases on Thursday.
Gauteng’s total is surging towards the 200 000 mark, with the confirmed cases in the province standing at 187 631.
The number of recoveries currently stands at 387 316 which translates to a recovery rate of 72%.
