A 14-member delegation of parliamentary Chief Whips representing various parties are currently on a 10-day tour of the British and Ghananian parliaments.

Parliament says the trip will help MPs learn from the UK and Ghananian counterparts how to hold the executive accountable among other things.

Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo explains the purpose of the trip.

“During these two trips to Ghana and the United Kingdom of which the parliamentary system is modelled along the West minister parliamentary system, they will learn from their counterparts from those parliaments on matters related on how to improve the oversight conduct over the executive. How the relationship is maintained between the Presiding Officers and the whips of political parties to ensure that parliament functions properly.”
