South Africa powered past Scotland with a 26-5 victory in their sevens Pool A match at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games on Saturday.
The defending Commonwealth Games champions with the win, booked their spot in the semi-finals following triumphs earlier in the day against Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.
Rosko Specman opened the scoring for South Africa with just over two minutes left in the first half. Justin Geduld added the extra two to make it 7-0. South Africa hung onto that lead until the break.
Ruhan Nel added a second try for South Africa after the interval. Geduld was again successful with the conversion to make it 14-0.
Almost immediately after the kickoff, South Africa regained possession and Cecil Afrikia sped away to score his first try. The conversion was missed, but South Africa were ahead 19-0.
A fourth try came when Geduld gathered a kick over the Scotland defence and dotted down under the posts. He added another two from in front to effectively seal the result.
Jamie Farndale provided a consolation score right on the full-time hooter to ensure the Scots were not held scoreless.
