SA band dishes up ‘funky soulful’ meals

Music Group, Shef and The kitchen, says they are inspired by old musicians such as the late Bra Hugh Masekela and Ray Phiri.

The Orange Farm group offers South Africans ‘funky’ Afro Jazz Funk.

They are the latest all boys group to hit the South African music landscape. The band consists of Freddy Mathate and Khanyisile Mlenzane on guitars, Mzwakhe Dlamini on the keyboard, the drummer William Mathere and Siphiwe Hlophe as the vocalist.

Hlophe says they are offering South Africa Africans a meal, “We are the band that says to the world, we are giving you food for the soul.”

Mathate says he grew up in church and started to understand music from church.

They have recently released their latest offering titled “The First Recipe”.
