Rugby fans from far and wide gathered in their thousands at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to witness the Rugby Championship clash between South Africa and Australia.

The Springboks beat the Wallabies 23 points to 12 and the fans loved every second of it.

There was an electric atmosphere inside the stadium and it was painted in green and gold.

Over 40 000 enthusiastic fans came out to back their boys as they brought the spirit that lead the Boks to a win over the Wallabies.

One supporter says: “Bokke al die pad! Australia bly waar julle is bokke number one!”

Another: “We believe in our team. GO BOKKE, GO BOKKE GO BOKKE!”

The men in green remain unbeaten at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium.

Siya Kolisi, Springbok Captain says: “You could feel it during the game. It was so special, especially this past week and today the crowd were great. I loved every second of it.”

The Wallabies imported supporters of their own.

Michael Cheika, Australian coach says: “We were 14 nil down after 10 minutes in a cauldron atmosphere. Considering what we have been going through for the past few weeks, we held our nerve really and fought our way back into the game. I don’t think we did enough in the physical contacts, but we were still able to manufacture a lot of opportunities.”

Community members from Zwide also came together to support home-boy Siya Kolisi.

One supporter says: “The support of rugby has come in numbers when it comes to black communities and we are so proud of Siya Kolisi, the first black Springbok captain, so that’s why we’re here. We’re not only here to support him but the team as a whole.”

The Springboks are hoping to carry this winning streak into next week when they face the mighty All Blacks at Loftus Versfeld.
