RTMC ready for Easter weekend traffic

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says it is ready to deal with the expected heavy traffic volumes on the country’s major routes ahead of the Easter weekend.

Spokesperson Simon Zwane says the major routes will be closely monitored. He is urging motorists to obey traffic rules.

He says traffic officers will be deployed on all major routes.”It is now up to the motorists to do their bit. Drivers who will be driving people to pilgrimages must make sure that buses and taxis are road-worthy.”

ZCC members are also expected to flock to Moria, outside Polokwane, for their Easter pilgrimage.

Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Makoma Makhurupetje says police are intensifying their anti-crime operations ahead of the Easter weekend.

“The police are re-enforcing their operations. The operations are taking 24hours, they are monitoring hotspots in the province and we think we will be able to manage the issue of crime this Easter season.”

The N3 towards Durban is also expected to be busy as its a long weekend.
