Rooibos creative artwork promotes World Environmental Day

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Rooibos industry has pledged its continued commitment to environmental and social sustainability in the lead-up to World Environmental Day on Saturday, 5 June, through a striking art installation at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.

Director of the SA Rooibos Council, Nicie Vorster, says more than two thousand cups, filled with various Rooibos tea blends have been carefully positioned to form a 40 cubic metre globe when viewed from above. “The artwork serves as a personal reminder to everyone to make a personal commitment to take better care of each other and our natural resources.  We’d like to invite everyone to go and view the artwork that will be on show at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort until 5 June.”

Vorster says they have made a provision for those who are not in Johannesburg to be able to see the artwork.

“Those who won’t be able to do that can catch a glimpse of the artwork on the SA Rooibos Council’s Facebook page.”
