The State is on Thursday expected to continue its cross-examination of murder accused Jason Rohde in the High Court in Cape Town.

Rohde is on trial for the murder of his wife, Susan at the Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch in July 2016.

During the first day of cross-examination, State advocate Louis van Niekerk questioned the events of the night before Susan died.

Rohde testified that he had a physical altercation with his wife just hours before he found her hanging in the bathroom.

He testified that when his wife blocked his exit from their room that night, he grabbed her by the neck to move her more forcefully.

He stressed that he did not throttle her and that she was not physically harmed by the action.

Van Niekerk asked if this was an assumption.

Rohde answered with a clear, “yes”. On the indictment it is stated that Rohde is charged with unlawfully and intentionally murdering Susan Rohde by manual strangulation.
