Countless hours of planning, debate, and careful deliberation will come to their culmination in Rio de Janeiro this June, when the United Nations holds its Conference on Sustainable Development there, known more colloquially as Rio+20. Focusing on the growth of the green economy to solve problems related to development and poverty, and on building a solid institutional framework for sustainable development, this conference comes at a time when addressing the problems of unsustainable development and resource consumption have reached a dangerous capacity. Rio+20 Secretary-General, Sha Zukang shares his insight on the conference.
