Retired boxers, Cassius “Hitman” Baloyi and Jeffrey Mathebula will be back in the ring this Friday for a demonstration fight.

Baloyi and Mathebula will exchange blows at the Royal Boxing Challenge to be staged by Nzhelele Women Sports Promotion in Sibasa outside Thohoyandou in Limpopo on Friday.

Boxing fans will be treated to a boxing extravaganza as current and former boxers will be exchanging blows at 2ten Hotel in Sibasa on Friday.

Mr Shy Guy or Hitman, as retired world boxing champion Cassius Baloyi is known to fans, will fight Jeffrey “Mongoose” Mathebula in an exhibit fight.

An exhibit or demonstration fight is a boxing match aimed at entertaining fans without titles or rewards.

The 42-year-old Malamulele born former boxer is the only South African to ever win six world titles.

He held various world titles including IBO, IBF, WBO, and WBC.

Baloyi hanged up his gloves after a defeat by Malcolm “The stone” Klassen in 2012.

Baloyi says he’s taking the demonstration fight seriously as he wants to inspire young people and to revive boxing in Limpopo.

“This is for the public to say we bring back boxing to the people it’s not just a fight for me, I have never fought in Limpopo and this will be my first time to fight in Limpopo as a professional boxer. I think is good for the fan to see us back in the ring.”

The Nzhelele Women’s Sports Promotion will host seven boxing bouts, including two provincial titles on Friday night.

Thembani Hobyane and former Musangwe champion, Tshifhiwa “Timer” Munyai will exchange blows in a rematch for a provincial title.

Promoter Mashudu Nekwakwame says preparations for the tournament have been finalised.

“Arrangements for this one on Friday are done I don’t think this one is going to be postponed because we are done with everything we have decided to call it royal, because the boxers that are going to fight they are like royal prince, we have decided to choose the best boxers.”

Former Commonwealth Bantanweight champion, Tshifhiwa “Spider” Munyai will have his third fight in the country since his return from Britain two years ago.

Munyai will face Rofhiwa Maemu for a provincial title.

Munyai says he’s ready for the fight. “I know my opponent very well I have prepared well I worked hard enough to go. I’m the one who is going to control the fight it will be my third fight since 2015 since I came back from the UK.”
