The Democratic Alliance (DA) Federal Executive chairperson, James Selfe says there are still outstanding matters to be resolved before the beginning of the formal process in the disciplinary hearing of Cape Town mayor, Patricia de Lille.

De Lille is facing charges of alleged misconduct. The DA is accusing her of covering up acts of maladministration in the City council.

De Lille, however, maintains her innocence.

On Thursday, one of the members on the panel, Pogiso Monchusi, agreed to recuse himself.

Selfe says there’s no decision yet on a request to also have former DA MP, Sheila Camerer recuse herself.

He says it’s not the DA that will decide on whether De Lille’s hearing should be open to the media and the public or not.

“The party doesn’t have a particular problem, we accept that there are arguments in favour of the closed session and open session in view of the public interest in this case. But at the end that decision will have to be taken by the panel it’s not a decision that the party takes.”
