According to the Socio-Economic Rights Institute (SERI) hundreds of Winnie Mandela informal settlement residents are seeking constitutional damages from the Ekurhuleni Municipality.
Many of the residents are still without housing and are caught up in a debacle with the municipality.
Residents say the municipality had built houses for them, however, the houses were allocated to other people.
The City of Ekurhuleni said the houses were misallocated and that it needs another year to sort out the issue.
