The SABC building is set to be auctioned on Wednesday.

Concerned residents from various townships in Cape Town occupied a building belonging to the South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC), at Sea Point, on Wednesday.

The building is set to be auctioned on Wednesday.

The residents are calling for the building to be given to them at minimal cost for rental.

Many of those protesting outside the row of double-storey townhouses are domestic workers from Sea Point.

They say the area is only reserved for the rich and not for those who serve in peoples’ homes for generations.

Members of the Metro police are monitoring the protest.
