Two people died and more than 400 houses were destroyed in the storm on Wednesday night.

Hundreds of families that have been left homeless after a severe hailstorm are being provided with urgent relief in the Vhembe and Mopani district municipalities in Limpopo.

The relief includes food parcels, tents and blankets.

Two people died and more than 400 houses were destroyed in the storm on Wednesday night.

Mopani District Municipal spokesperson, Witness Tiva, says about 100 households from three villages need urgent assistance.

Tiva says assessments conducted by members of the Mopani disaster management team identified about 100 households in three villages outside Giyani.

The members are already on the ground distributing food parcels, tents and other basic amenities.
