The Energy Department says both grades of 93 and 95 of petrol will decrease by R1.84 per litre inland with effect from midnight on Tuesday.

Motorists will receive a sigh of relief as the holiday period kicks in as the price of petrol is expected to drop significantly.

This as the Energy Department announced that both grades of 93 and 95 of petrol will decrease by R1.84 per litre inland with effect from midnight on Tuesday.

Diesel is expected to go down by between R1.45 and R1.47.

Illuminating paraffin is set to decrease by R1.33 and R1.78.

The price of oil and the exchange rate are the two primary factors which influence the fuel price on a monthly basis.

The price adjustments come after the country saw a record hike in the price of fuel which reached a high of R17.08 a litre.
