Reading Time: 2 minutes

The reconstruction work to rehabilitate the sea wall and repair storm damage along the Sea Point Promenade and at the Sea Point Pavillion swimming pool was progressing well, the City of Cape Town said on Tuesday.

“City’s transport and urban development authority (TDA) is continuing with construction work along the Sea Point Promenade between Rocklands Beach and Three Anchor Bay. Once completed, residents and visitors to Cape Town will fully enjoy the benefits of this nine-year-long project that covers the rehabilitation of the promenade along Granger Bay, Mouille Point and Sea Point,” said Brett Herron, mayoral committee member for transport and urban development.

The first phase of the refurbishment of the sea wall and the promenade between Three Anchor Bay and the Mouille Point lighthouse was completed in 2015.

The second phase of this project is currently underway and consists of two portions that will be upgraded. The upgrade of the first portion entails the rehabilitation of the sea wall between the Mouille Point Lighthouse and Granger Bay.

“It is wonderful to see some of the progress made in the first portion where we have completed the upgrade of the parking area at the Mouille Point Lighthouse. It has been opened recently and is very popular on weekends,” said Herron.
