Reading Time: < 1 minute

The case of a Blue Bulls under 19 player accused of rape has been postponed until Monday for closing arguments in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court in Port Elizabeth.

The accused who has been in custody since December 29, has been denied bail for the 5th time. He is facing two charges of rape and one of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Earlier on, during cross examination, his defence challenged the qualifications of the medical practitioner who examined the complainant after the alleged rape incident, and cited flaws in the report.

The defence also argued that the player be granted bail to continue with his rugby career. The state turned this down due to the seriousness of the case.
