The move to support Cyril Ramaphosa goes against a decision taken by the national Women's League, which has decided to throw its support behind Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

ANC Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced party NEC member Naledi Pandor as his preferred candidate for the deputy president position in the leadership campaign for the party’s elective conference in December.

Ramaphosa was speaking outside Groblersdal in Limpopo. He confirmed that former KwaZulu-Natal ANC chairperson Senzo Mchunu was contesting the secretary-general position.

Other members of Ramaphosa’s slate included current ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe for the chairperson’s position and current Gauteng MEC Paul Mashatile for the treasurer-general position. Ramaphosa took his campaign to Mpumalanga and Limpopo this weekend.
