President Cyril Ramaphosa says 2018 has been a year of triumphs, moving South Africa forward positively.

Rampahosa has been giving his New Year message to the nation.

He says while 2018 saw the country suffer a technical recession and was highlighted by issues of gender-based violence and inequality; the implementation of the Minimum Wage Act will work towards alleviating poverty.

Ramaphosa says looking ahead to 2019, government will strive to capitalise on the progress made on the path to growth and progress.
