African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa says he is confident that the ANC will perform well in KwaZulu-Natal in the May 7 elections.

Ramaphosa has been leading his party’s door-to-door campaign in the Ntuzuma area, north of Durban. He was accompanied by eThekwini Executive Mayor Councillor James Nxumalo.

The ANC Deputy President is among several ANC leaders who are campaigning in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

“We are absolutely confident of a win in KwaZulu-Natal. The ANC is going to retain leadership, control in the province. Our support is high and our people in this province have a lot of confidence in ANC. We just hear of these other parties and have not encounter them, all we have uncounted is the ANC support base and that is what we know,” says Ramaphosa.

Meanwhile, ANC chairperson Baleka Mbete has also embarked on a door-to-door election campaign in areas surrounding Newcastle in northern KZN.

Her first engagement with the people has been in the area of Danhauser which will be followed by a public meeting at Mtimande High School in Blaaubosch.

Mbete has encouraged people to go out in their numbers to vote for the ruling party.

She says the ANC is the only political party that is able to take the country forward.

Scores of ANC supporters have welcomed the party’s leadership.
