President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa has vowed to serve South Africans with humility and dignity.

He addressed the National Assembly after Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng declared him the country’s new President.

Members of Parliament elected Ramaphosa unopposed following Jacob Zuma’s resignation on Wednesday evening.

The President-elect says he’s willing to work with other political parties to improve the lives of South Africans.

“I will seek to work with all political parties. We’ll start it off with wanting to have a meeting with all leaders of all political parties so that we can try to find a way of working together and I will do all this as a servant of our people and I will seek to execute this task with humility with faithfulness and with dignity as well.”

Meanwhile, the Diplomatic Corps has welcomed the election of Ramaphosa as the President of the country.

Head of the Diplomatic Corps and DRC ambassador to South Africa, Bene Mpoko, says Ramaphosa is not a newcomer to a political scene and brings experience from the private sector.
