Ramaphosa urges people to work with government

Reading Time: 2 minutes

President Cyril Ramaphosa says government is working hard to ensure that ordinary people’s expectations are met. He was speaking at an Easter church service in Esikhawini Township, near Empangani in KwaZulu Natal.

Ramaphosa has encouraged people to engage with government to ensure that the country prospers.

“If all of us believe then Africa shall be saved. And we have the hope of this new moment that we are in and we work hard. We are going to do everything to make sure the expectations of our people are met. And if we together work hard then all the things that we want shall indeed be realised and our country shall go forward and shall be saved.”

Ramaphosa says ANC officials must resist from engaging in corrupt activities in the future. He says those who stole resources must be brought to book.

“The ANC must serve the people of SA as the governing party. We must put our old ways behind us. Where there was corruption we must say goodbye to corruption. Where there was stealing of the resources of our people, we must say goodbye to those ways and put them behind us. There were people who were stealing the resources of our country. They must be dealt with severely because we don’t want corruption in our country.”

The President has urged the ruling ANC to urgently address issues of unemployment and poverty. He says members of the party must serve the people of South Africa, and be enthusiastic about service delivery.

“We have come out with a clear message – the ANC must serve the people of SA. We must address the challenge of unemployment, particularly among the youth. This new dawn means there is renewed enthusiasm about service delivery. We are going to address the issues of poverty.”
